Dreamweaver Icon Site Definition in Dreamweaver

Setting up your site definition is the first step to take when beginning to build a web site. This tells Dreamweaver where your files are located on your local computer and also what server address to connect to.

Step 1: Begin by creating a folder somewhere on your harddrive and give it a name. This is the location where all your site files will be saved.

Step 2: Open Dreamweaver then go to Site -> New Site. Once this window opens make sure that the Advance Tab is selected.

Local root folder: This is the location of the folder you created earlier that will be holding all of your site files. Click on the blue folder and search for the folder and choose select.
HTTP address: Type in the URL address of your web site. This allows Dreamweaver to check your web site links.
Cache: Check the Enable cache check box. This allows Dreamweaver to maintain files and asset information, and speeds up the link management process.

Now that your Local Info is all set up, lets set up your Remote Info.
